This is a blog diary of the garden around our home, in southern Japan. We aim for an organic garden, growing a wide array of vegetables and flowers in companion relationships on raised beds. The blog extends to our wood-fired oven, which yields delicious pizza and wood ash, potash, for the garden. We also hold improvised, jazz and other music concerts in our home. If you wish to perform there, please contact me for more details.
Thank you for posting a photo of your trellis! I had talked to my husband about building one, but he wasn't very interested. Now that he's seen your photo he is gung-ho to build one himself. He is just a bit worried about the wind. Your garden seems to be more sheltered from the wind by surrounding trees, ours is totally exposed.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, This trellis is built on concrete block, with metal spigots protruding from the top. The blocks are sunk into the ground, level with one another, and the vertical supports are screwed to the blocks. There are also side supports to increase the rigidity of the structure left to right, as well as front to back. There are three concrete blocks on either side with an additional two on the right, with the extended support. I don;t know if this will survive a typhoon, but i will strengthen it if it seems unlikely too.
